My Territory!

Last evening, over the roar of the TV, my parents heard a racket coming from the other room. They said it sounded like I was being tortured by some machinery, like a garbage disposal, because I was making these horrible screeching noises! Panicked, they flew to find out where the sounds were coming from. There they found me, practically bouncing off the patio window, continuing to make these weird cat sounds, while my tail was "fluffed" out. Clearly something outside caught my attention. Upon long inspection from the inside looking out, my parents finally found the source of my frustration. It was a C A T in MY territory! Dad took a flashlight and shined the light in the cat's face and the cat took off... in the direction to go past my patio window and then he ran out of sight. I ran in the same direction in the house but could not find the culprit who was mocking me.

After a while, I finally calmed down. My parents are certain that if I were an outdoor cat, I would be minced meat for large cats that prowl my neighborhood. They are glad I am protected by being indoors. Yeah, I am a wimp but I am safe and healthy. I am glad my parents don't listen to me when I get so caught up in wanting to go outside without my leash. That's good training when they have the basic foundation of cat knowledge that I've so generously provided to help educate them, and then they build upon it to think for themselves, and come up with the right decision for our family.

How could that cat invade your territory!! I'm glad they don't let you go outside, because it is not safe.

You're not a wimp, Prince...You're a big strong mancat and no doubt when your Dad shined the light at the outside cat, the cat realized you were there and ran for cover!!!...It's a good thing for him you are inside and he is protected from YOU!!...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

We're glad you don't go out at night by yourself too! Our Nicki can't understand why our human won't let him go free, but there are too many dangers--lots of roaming Cats to fight with and a major thoroughfare very close. So you are training your humans well, Prince, to keep you safe even when you might be tempted to do something rash.

You don't sound like a wimp to us - we would have done the same thing if a cat was in our territory! And we think it is very good that you don't go out without your leash!

I agree, it has nothing to do with being a wimp, because you're certainly not...it has everything to do with being safe...and that you are!

Oh no, an introoder kitty!

It is important for you to always wear your leash when you go outside...I would hate for something to happen to you. I agree with everyone else, that cat ran off once he discovered that a fierce mancat lived at your house... I'll bet he was thankful that you were a stay inside kind of guy!

Who does that CAT think he is? I hope he keeps away from your territory from now on. I'm so glad you scared him off! I would've been scratching at the door and barking like crazy if a strange dog was in my territory.

Love,
Teddy Bear

P.S. Mommy says we are moving at the end of March.

How very rude of that cat! We would have threatened to box his ears in for him, then sent the dog out to do it for us!

You are one lucky kitty that your mom & dad keep you safe inside the house ~ you are not wimpy ~ you are smart!

I am sure the other kitty was just peeking in to see what a well loved cat looks like! :)

I don't think you are a wimp at all! You were protecting your turf from inside your house. That introoder better not come back!

Hey, maybe you live next to me, Prints, because I have C A T S invade my yard too and it drives me crazy! Who do they think they are? I bark so loud that the whole block hears me, so I bet that C A T got the message loud and clear that he/she was on YOUR turf! Good job, Prints!

Prince, we mancats have to do whatever it takes to protect our territory. Thankfully I don't see very many stray cats around here. They hide and only come out at night!
